Getting Here

Nelson Lakes National Park, is a stunning place located at the top New Zealand’s South Island. The Southern Alps start here. The National Park has two beautiful lakes, Rotoiti and Rotoroa, also includes valleys Travers, Sabine, & D’Urville.

St Arnaud is the gateway to Nelson Lakes National Park, and is located approximately 1.25 hrs drive from Nelson (90 kms) and Blenheim (102 kms) , and 45 minutes from Murchison (60kms).

The Travers-Sabine travellers Lodge and the Motels are conveniently located within 10 minutes walking distance of beautiful Lake Rotoiti, and a few moments walk to the Nelson Lakes Village Store.

The Nelson Scenic route

From Nelson south on Highway 6. Turn left at the signpost at Belgrove and enjoy the drive through the Golden Downs pine plantations which gives way to the native beech forest as you climb into the mountains.

From Picton to Blenheim

Travel to Renwick, turning off at Highway 63, continue up the scenic Wairau Valley for 93 km’s and cross the Tophouse saddle into St Arnaud.

From Christchurch

Travel north on Highway 7 through the Lewis Pass to Springs Junction, turn onto Highway 65, through Murchison, turning off at Kawateri Junction onto Highway 63.

From the West Coast

Travel north from Greymouth or East from Westport, through Inangahua Junction and Murchison, turning off at Kawateri Junction onto Highway 63.
