No. The closest medical centre is Wakefield (45 Minutes), Blenheim and Nelson are both 1 hour away. Please dial 111 in an emergency



Mountain biking is not allowed in the National Park.

However there are a lot of opportunities to bike on conservation land outside the boundary of the National Park and in the district around St.Arnaud.

A lot of new tracks have been formed, from easy to extreme in the Teetotal and Red Hills areas.

There is also a new track that links the village to Teetotal through Big Bush.


The ski area is a 40 minute drive from Nelson Lakes Motels and the Travers-Sabine Lodge along state highway 63.

The Rainbow road is a private road that runs through the Rainbow Station, please be aware of stock on the road and drive to the conditions.

You will need to organise these before you come to St.Arnaud.

During the winter you MUST carry chains at all times if you wish to drive to the Rainbow Ski field.

No Charge if cancelled by noon two days prior to arrival date, cancellation after this may, at our discretion, incur a charge equal to the total tariff.

Yes, we have a portable cot available, this will need to be booked ahead. If you bring your own portable cot with bedding, your child stays free.


Yes all motel units and family cottages are self – contained. The Travers-Sabine Lodge has a large fully equipped kitchen and dining area.


We have two washing machines and two dryers that are coin operated. (A $1 and a $2 coin for each machine) We also have washing lines, pegs and an ironing board for your use.
